What to Send for an Architectural Rendering

A coordinated brief helps an artist reproduce the intended design and gives your team a clear basis for review. Use this checklist before commissioning exterior, interior, floor-plan or site rendering work.

Start with one current drawing set

Supply floor plans, elevations and relevant sections with the project name and revision date. Include a site plan when the image needs boundaries, access, neighboring context or landscape. State the drawing units so feet and inches are not confused with metric measurements.

If you supply a model, identify its software and version and explain what is complete. A model can contain old options, missing linked files or placeholder geometry. Include a PDF reference set so the intended design is clear even if the model requires preparation.

Specify the visible materials

For exteriors, list cladding, roofing, masonry, window frames, paving and landscape references. For interiors, include flooring, cabinetry, countertop, hardware, lighting and key furniture selections. Product names and supplier references are more useful than a loose instruction such as 'make it modern'.

Distinguish approved selections from mood-board inspiration. Mark anything the artist can propose and anything that must match the supplied design. Color appearance varies with lighting and screens, so review the overall material intent as well as individual samples.

Choose cameras before detailing

Mark the intended view direction on a plan, or provide a reference image with notes about what matters. State whether the goal is design review, a listing hero, an investor presentation or a printed brochure. Those uses can call for different framing and detail.

For a photomontage, provide the original photograph and available camera information. Confirm that you have permission to use supplied images. For an aerial or verified outlook, clarify the required viewpoint and the limits of the source information.

Make review and delivery unambiguous

Nominate one person to consolidate feedback. Number requested changes and refer to the current drawing revision so the artist does not have to reconcile conflicting comments. Separate a correction to the brief from a new design decision.

List the required dimensions, formats, crops and delivery deadline. The enquiry form accepts multiple attachments; follow its displayed file-size limits. If the model package is too large, contact the studio to agree a suitable transfer method rather than stripping out essential references.

Questions before you start

Can I request a quote before every finish is decided?

Yes. Identify what is still undecided so the quote can state assumptions and the information needed before final production.

Should I send every historical revision?

Send the current coordinated set and any specific reference needed to explain it. Clearly label superseded information to prevent accidental use.
